Idea Journals: What Are They, And Why You Should Have One

Idea Journals: What Are They, And Why You Should Have One Hello and welcome fellow writers! I figured that I should introduce to you all what an idea journal is, and why you should have one(if you don’t already). What Is An Idea Journal? Idea journals are journals that, at their core, are what you would write your ideas in. Now, the term ‘idea’ is very broad, so I will give you a mini-list of what I use my (meaning, you can use yours for whatever you want) idea journal for.  I use my idea journal for setting, character descriptions, character dynamics, conflicts, and even vague ideas, like a setting and character or conflict and setting. Any idea that I might want to use later, or just think would be fun to play around with goes into this journal.  A lot of things inspire me, so I get a mixed bag of seedlings in my journal. I have ideas based around what-ifs, like, what if America became a communist country? And I have ideas based around a ‘backdrop’, like, a school ...

Make A Character With Me: A Step-By-Step Guide To Writing Detailed Characters Hello my fellow writers! Today I come to you with an easy to use character sheet! I know I can’t be the only one who struggles with creating characters outside of that vague vibe you get at the start, right? (Or maybe I am…) This character sheet will be split into eight sections, each one tackling a core aspect of a detailed character. We’ll go through this together, with me giving a basic explanation and then giving some examples with a character of mine. Note: Only fill out the ones you want to, I’ll be filling out all of them for demonstration.  Let’s get started! Basic Information This category includes the necessary information in having a character, including things like names, age, and gender.  Full Name: Gemma Lyvia Windsor (You don’t have to include a middle name, but I like doing so) Nickname(s): Gigi, Gem (Or any ridiculous childhood nicknames that they just can’t get ...

Christmastime Reads: Books That Are Perfect For The Season

Christmastime Reads: Books That Are Perfect For The Season Hello my fellow readers! I would like to issue a disclaimer: I don’t plan on posting everyday, but I woke up and realized that I’m nearly a week behind on jumping on the Christmas reads bandwagon, and figured that I should set that straight before I fall too far behind. I’ll be sharing my (unfortunately small) top Christmas book picks, and then my Mother’s as well, as she’s read much more Christmas-themed books than I have. My Top Christmas Book Picks Sadly, I haven’t read a whole lot of Christmas reads, but I love a good fantasy read, and these picks blend that with breathtaking scenes full of winter and cocoa. A Soul As Cold As Frost, by Jennifer Kropf - This is the first book in a four-book series revolving around Helen and a realm called Winter. If you like a character who’s out of her depth colliding with a world built around the re-imagining of some classic Christmas tales, this series is for you. The Lion, The Witch,...
