Augustine’s Poems: A Handful Of Poems I Made For A Character Of Mine

Augustine’s Poems: A Handful Of Poems I Made For A Character Of Mine Hello my fellow readers and writers! For a while, I had a world in which a character named Augustine lived, and he was a poem guy. He would write poems. So, I decided that I would share with you guys some poems I made with him in mind(aka, poems that he would write). The three poems are: Poisoned Leaves, Sunshine, & Lest You See Me. Poem #1 - Poisoned Leaves The time has come. The rose has withered. The tree is poisoned, it falls from the leaves. It has poisoned all, including me. Though how come no one sees The crimson shade of pain And the blackness of poison Until it is too late? The poison is blinding The leaves whisper The withering is like rot The rose murmurs The blackness in your heart Is all your fault As the rings of poison spread farther and farther What can be done? The poison taunts I certainly can do nothing For I am the poison. I am the rot. I wither all, and love not Your time has come,...

Characters 201: What Do You Do Once You’ve Made A Character?

Characters 201: What Do You Do Once You’ve Made A Character? Hello my fellow writers! Today I bring you a blogpost of endless possibilities: what to do with that character you’ve finally written down on paper(or maybe you’re a daydreamer. I respect that.) Before we launch into this post, I’ll take a moment to suggest to you one of my other blog posts: Make A Character With Me: A Step-By-Step Guide To Writing Detailed Characters. An idea for your story? Even just the general vibes can be helpful with deciding what to do with your character. If you don’t have anything outside of a character, then it’s time for you to make either a ...

Book Review: I Must Betray You By Ruta Septys Romania, 1989. Communist regimes are crumbling across Europe. Seventeen-year-old Cristian Florescu dreams of becoming a writer, but Romanians aren’t free to dream; they are bound by rules and force. Amidst the tyrannical dictatorship of Nicolae Ceausescu in a country governed by isolation and fear, Cristian is blackmailed by the secret police to become an informer. He’s left with only two choices: betray everyone and everything he loves–or use his position to creatively undermine the most notoriously evil dictator in Eastern Europe. Cristian risks everything to unmask the truth behind the regime, give voice to fellow Romanians, and expose to the world what is happening in his country. He eagerly joins the revolution to fight for change when the time arrives. But what is the cost of freedom? A gut-wrenching, startling window into communist Romania and the citizen spy network that devastated a nation, from the number one New Yo...

Two Noahs On The Subway: My Flash Fiction Piece That Went To AG National Fine Arts

Two Noahs On The Subway: My Flash Fiction Piece That Went To AG National Fine Arts Hello my fellow readers and writers! Until now, all of my blog posts have been either about books or about writing, and I wondered… maybe I should share some of what I’ve written? So this is going to be a semi-short blogpost, since Two Noahs On The Subway is only 597 words long– which is actually only 3 words away from the cutoff. Two Noahs On The Subway I’ve heard a lot of interesting things riding the subway home from school. Breakups, get-togethers, arguments, evangelists, drug dealers, the whole nine yards. I don’t remember a lot of the stuff I’ve heard, to be honest. But there’s one conversation that I’ll never forget… I was texting my mom, telling her that I would pick up groceries on the way home. There was a boy around seven years old sitting across from me, his mother chattering away on her phone. Standing about a foot or so away from the boy was an old man, probably in his 80’s....
